PLEASE SEE BELOW INFORMATION REGARDING

BOOKING OF SHIFTS IN THE OOH DEPARTMENT

DUMFRIES AND RHINS/MACHARS ROTAS ARE NOW OPEN UNTIL

31st MAY 2024 TO ALLOW FOR BOOKINGS

PLEASE NOTE that as per the Local Booking Rules it is our service Policy that a 10 day period of notification of cancellation of any existing shifts bookings is given.

UPDATE:  Please note it is the responsibility of all individual staff who undertake shifts within the service on an ad-hoc basis to be familiar with and adhere to the working time directive legislation.Information on this can be found on the BMA website. Easily found by typing 'working time directive BMA' into google.

Please note the Clinical Rotas for Dumfries and Rhins/Machars are open until 31st May 2024 to allow clinicians to book shifts.  Any queries with this please contact the office.

It is imperative that we work as a team on shift and identify skills sets on arrival to ensure clarity of roles and capabilities to maximise efficiency.  The department expects professional behaviour at all times and fluid communications between all members of the team when on shift in accordance with the code of positive behaviour.

When working in the OOH you may be expected to review patients with possible COVID risk.

You are expected to undertake Home Visits or see patients in the PCC dependent on service needs at the time of your shift.  You may of course be able to discuss this with the team you are on shift with and agree duties and roles based on skill set and personal preference.

Communications Co-Ordinators oversee the co-ordination of any resource management during a shift based on needs of the service and have complete oversight of all calls for the region. Clinical staff will therefore be allocated to calls from our Communications Co-Ordinators based on availability of resource and skill set.

Out of Hours is proud to be involved in training students and other medical professionals. You may therefore have trainees attached with you on your shift.  Details of the Rotas for trainees is available in the main office.  If there are any questions in regards to this then please do not hesitate to contact the management team.

When working in the department can we remind all staff that patient confidentiality is paramount.
